Anatomical Study of the Viscera

The anatomical study of the viscera was considered an offence against God in the Middle Ages. Many doctors and anatomists were persecuted for their unholy work with the viscera. Such a crime was severely punished, as the church had a monopoly on scientific knowledge at that time.
